Evan Wichman currently serves as the 6-12 Music Teacher at the American School of Brasilia, where he teaches band, choir, and general music classes. In July 2025, he will relocate to Kaohsiung, Taiwan to serve as an MYP and DP Music Teacher at a Kaohsiung American School.
Previously, Evan taught IB DP Music and Theory of Knowledge at Beijing National Day School, and was the founding choir director at Maspeth High School in New York City. While in New York, he also served as the assistant conductor for Amor Artis, as well as a vocal adjudicator for NYSSMA.
Evan holds a B.M. in Music Education from Syracuse University, an M.M. in Choral Conducting from Emory University, and is pursuing an M.Sci. in Education Futures from the University of Edinburgh. He was an active member of the Carnegie Hall Music Educators workshop from 2015-2022. Evan has been recognized with awards such a being named Academy for Teachers Fellow and Fulbright-Hays recipient. His research interests include the use of strengths-based positive psychology in the ensemble classroom as well as embracing neurodiversity in performance settings.
